For lack of a better description, we're a group for the poetically inclined - people who can bend metaphors and similies to their will. Or, for poets who want to get noticed, showcase their work, or meet others similar to them. Anyone is welcome.

If you just want to join this group to boost up your number of groups, please don't join. We're a community for people who genuinely want to be in the group, rather than those who are going to use us.
There are no limits to how much you submit, but I will be accepting one piece per five minutes.
If your work doesn't fit in a folder, either message the group or ~Anatopist, and I'll open up a folder for you.
As far as competitions go, prizes are being debated. Please let me know if you think of anything.

lies a peculiar freshwater lake.
Its purpose isn't clear like the water it holds,

StitchesThe sun is bleeding when I look into its face, your own next to mine as I search for something unattainable in the sky.
Clouds hover around like infection as waves rise and splash and rip, tearing wounds in something so pure we cannot stare for fear of burning.
The water is bitter and stings, aging our skin in rapid movements so eased, the smarting lights reflected on horizons making scars on the sun, stitching from days of risk and terror before.
You take my hand in yours and I shiver, shiver while the sun bleeds, falling submissively into the water at the end of its daily beating.

An honest confrontation the other day—one without conclusion. She asked me what was off, how to fix it, why I didn’t answer. I couldn’t find the words just then, but here they are for you: I want to have an effect. To be counted off in metrics. Corporeal: tangible shine or tangible rust. I want to write the stone and watch the ripple. I want others to measure it, engage it, feel it, taste it, scrap it, forget it, uncover it. I want to be inhaled in warm, smoky basements and exhaled in brisk winter night. I want to be the final thing they muse about before sleep drags them off.
The thing is that I know it’s all on me. Alright. But what length will this prove? I want to be worth something. (Or at least worth salvaging.)

Any imagining's better than nothing at all.

Love SingsLove sings, some say. Springing up like a sunrise, or a crocus in the first days of spring. Allowing us to toss away the masks of hatred and narcissism. So often expressed with yo-yoed kisses. Oh, how the feeling sweeps over me! The sweet music delicately rubs it’s soft, warm fur against my cheeks like a purring kitten; turning my face pink. This music is so strong when I’m with you. You’re pulling me in with your candied kisses. Oh, you got me wanting you! You hug me and I burst into flames, crashing into you. Your arms are my castle, my sky, protector of my heart. You’re always here to wipe away all my tears, to pick me up when I’m down, to say all the right things.

The Battle FieldI stand among broken corpses, crumbling walls, and the veil of the night sky- I cannot recall how I was thrown into these conditions. I know my skins cold, and my mouth is just cotton.

In this instance it might be my throat to, burning brightly as if the bloodstains on the beaten down ground were mocking it. The ground, the ground holds the key I believe as many weary looking footprints faintly paint the surface; it reminds me of concrete.

Now it separates, as the bodies decay and set in, which side should I choose to take? The watcher sits, knowing all that took place in this theater of maddening violence, but it is mute.

Beauty StolenI steal a breath from air choked with beauty. A thousand feathers bathed in sunset flap as one, gliding razor sharp through the clouds. Waves tuck into the seashore with a whispered sigh, tracing their steps backwards. A forest guards silently the beams of sunlight that trickle through like waterfall into a chamber built for no one.

I wish I could paint such beauty into the world with my own hand. I wish I could determine where light bends and how a colour can blend into the shadows without being noticed by men who stain everything with rotten fingertips and polluted breath. AnisopteraRachel had always had a fascination with dragonflies. What little girl hadn't? From the way they would flit from place to place, to the way they sparkled in the evening sun. The dragons would dance on the water, never quite touching the surface with their dainty, regal toes. Trying to copy their effortless, graceful motion was her favorite game as a child, back when her mother would still dance in the grassy fields at sunrise with her. To pretend she were one of the dragonflies. Rachel used to laugh as she stretched out her iridescent wings and took to the morning skies, like a faerie at the new day's birth.

IsolationHe sat there for an hour, and when it passed, sat for another until the next one came. Staring at the wall, he saw nothing but blankness. But in his mind, pictures played.

Rewind.

Throw yourself back in this chair and look at a time when he was alive. A day at the beach, strolling barefooted through sand dunes and waves tossing up debris. Shells lined the shore and just as quickly scuttled away on tiny little legs.

She held onto his hand and laughed.

A younger version of him smiling at her. She was beautiful, glowing blue eyes and chocolate curls smelling of the sun. More than that, she was alive in a sense that went much deeper than justIsolation by ~e-maginings

Vanneiktir and TsaelviriIn the beginning there was nothing. The two great dragons flew tirelessly through empty space, searching for anything that could ease their loneliness, for there was no land for them to rest on, no animals to hunt, no water to drink, even day and night did not yet exist, and they each believed themselves to be alone in the universe. Vanneiktir was as black as the universe itself and white spirals dotted his hide like stars. Tsaelviri was like his reflection; her scales were gleaming white, dotted with sharp black spirals. Granted means notHave you ever had someone you could tell everything to?

Count yourself lucky. I did too. Once.

Those kinds of people don't come around every day. They're friends beyond borders, that edge piece you needed to make the whole puzzle fit together.

And sometimes, they don't last.

Sometimes I still miss having a friend like that. Every so often, when my head is too small to fit all the thoughts and screams. I miss that security.

But this is what happens when you take it for granted. This is what happens when "granted" means "given" and that's the same as "love". Because it's not.

FEEDBACK NEEDED: Uriel's Wings Version 2 The forbidden tree was rotting and dying, tainting everything around it with its roots. The ground blackened, shrubs and mosses shriveled and curled onto themselves. Fruit became poisonous and trunks fell away into the dust. The animals that couldn't crawl or fly over the walls that boxed in the garden all lay down and died slow and agonizing deaths. I let all pass beyond, but let none enter, as I was commanded. I was to guard and protect, but not to intervene or do anything to save those inside. I was only to leave when the place that would one day be revered under the name of Eden disappeared and only a pit of sad memories remained.

Group Rules

Hi, all. I figured the group needed some rules, so, here we go.

If you want to join this group just to boost up your number of groups, or already submit your work to about 300 groups, your deviation will not be accepted unless it is really high-quality. This is simply to prevent people using us.
There are no limits as to how many pieces you can submit, but please try to avoid more than 10 an hour, which could lead to peoples' watches being clogged and your work not being read.

If your work doesn't fit in a particular folder, as in the folder is full or you don't feel yours is appropriate for it, message ~Anatopist and tell me the name of a folder you want opened.

I'll be holding contests roughly every week or so. The prize is going to be any of these - of your choice - DeviantWatches, Llamas, favouriting any things of your choice in your gallery, a collab with me or a sketch.

This group is aimed at those who want writing help, to grow as writers, to find a friendly community, to take part in events and to get their work a little more noticed. Please try not to join if you are going to troll, belittle others, or are overwhelmingly famous already.

What you can submit:

Poetry of any form, any prose, short stories, songs, scripts, fanfiction. Please try to go easy on the extremely popular fanfics - though, submit if you like.

What you shouldn't submit:

Any personal attack on another Deviant/member of this group.
Extremely mature pieces - ie, no extreme erotica. Violence and profanity is allowed with a warning, but please, don't go overboard on the sex scenes.
No suicidal content or blatant self-injury content. With all due respect, some of our members could be triggered by some of this.

I do not mean any disrespect if your work is denied. If it is denied, consider this: could it trigger? Is there any vivid sex scenes? Is the grammar pretty bad? Does it contain vivid hate speech - ie, racism, religious hatred? If not, ask ~Anatopist why it was denied and perhaps I can provide a detailed explanation.

Lastly, PLEASE tell me if you think I'm doing anything wrong. I'm always open to your suggestions.

Okay. Things were getting tough what with exams and all, SO, I thought it'd be best to bring in a new admin,
